Glaze Screenprinting Workshop

Service Description
In this workshop learn how to print on clay using the new AMACO Inks. Demonstrations and discussions will include a variety of printing techniques suitable for both handbuilding and wheel thrown forms. Hands-on projects will include silk screening techniques ranging from simple screens made from HTV vinyl to more detailed ones using light sensitive emulsion sheets that work great with photographs. We will silkscreen directly onto the clay and indirectly with newspaper transfers. After the printing is complete learn how to construct forms from the moist printed slabs. Please Bring - Newspaper-small amount to work on - Scraper or plastic card to smooth clay slabs - Wooden pony roller or rolling pen-this can be shared they only need it for one part of the project. - Needle tool or Scoring tool - Fettling knife - Plastic wrap from the Dollar Tree (this can be shared) - 1-3 small soft paint brushes (similar to what's in a watercolor set) - Scissors (not a good pair) Optional: - GR Pottery Forms or small slump/hump forms. - Texture rollers A bit about Kathy Kathy Skaggs earned her M.A.E. in Education from the Rhode Island School of Design and her M.F.A. in Ceramics from the University of Florida. She was published in Studio Potter and received an NAE grant to construct her first kiln and equip a studio after graduate school. Kathy has worked at the Cleveland Art Institute and Penland School of Crafts as a studio assistant. She has been an adjunct at the University of North Florida and University for Florida where she taught classes in the Education and Ceramics Department. She owned Atlantic Pottery Supply and taught Ceramics for over 30 years in Florida public schools. Currently she works as a Ceramic Education Consultant & Teacher for AMACO teaching teachers how to use clay in their classrooms. https://kathy-skaggs.com/ This workshop is $20 dollars but includes a $20 store credit for glazes.
