Product Details
Yields alumina and silica. Feldspars vary in composition and availability, with some containing potash, and others, soda. The formula of a commercial feldspar is usually available from the supplier, so you can see which oxides are present. At high temperatures, some feldspars melt with no additional flux at 2280°F/ 1250°C. At lower temperatures, talc, dolomite, gerstley borate, or whiting are added to lower their melting point. Used in porcelain clay bodies.
